Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to make 2 States with Shah Rukh Khan

Vishal Bhardwaj recently made a shocking revelation about his unknown project. He mentioned that he was interested in making 2 States, based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name. Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to cast Shah Rukh Khan but due to some reasons they were not able to collaborate and the film was not made. Talking to mid-day, Bhardwaj shared insights into the project that didn’t materialize, citing differences between the two.
Vishal Bhardwaj disclosed that he and Shah Rukh Khan were in talks to collaborate on a film adaptation of the novel 2 States. The renowned filmmaker said, “We had differences over the setting of it. I wanted to set it not in a college but in a bank like ICICI. So, that’s where we were different. Shah Rukh wanted it in a different setting.” To note, the film was later made with Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles and was directed by Abhishek Varman.
The director also mentioned that both he and SRK are aware in their hearts that they want to work together. They have had discussions after Jawan, and every year, whenever they meet at events like his birthday or public functions, the desire to collaborate resurfaces. Bhardwaj shared, “He always says, and I also feel, that we have to do a film together.”
On the work front, Vishal’s two projects were released on OTT platforms: Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley and the film Khufiya. The film starring Tabu was loved by fans.
While, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his third released of the year. He will be next seen in Dunki with Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal. The emotional drama is releasing on December 21. Earlier, it was releasing on December 22 but it is now preponed.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, ticket pre-sales for Dunki will begin on Saturday, December 16. While some booking portals may start with partial bookings from Friday, December 15, onwards, full-scale bookings will begin on Saturday. Furthermore, overseas advance reservations began last week, with pre-sales numbers giving a positive review of the success. Reportedly, the movie is expected to release at USD 2.50 million or higher globally. In the international market, it has the potential to exceed USD 3 million. If the audience receives the film well, they are expected to generate a staggering amount in excess of USD 15 million through its run over weekends.
