Selena Gomez and Rema won big at the 2023 MTV VMAs with the hitmaker Calm Down bagging the Best Afrobeats award. A celebration of music, art and fashion, Selena attended the awards night in a sexy red hot gown from Oscar de la renta.
You definitely can’t ‘Calm Down’ when Selena Gomez looks like this. Fitting her like a glove, the gorgeous and radiant textured dress featured a corset bodice with a halter neckline and a floral tendril skirt. Oscar de la Renta also took to Instagram and addressed Selena’s look as ‘Femme Fatale’.
Embroidered with thousands of scarlet bugle beads, the Oscar de la Renta hand beaded scarlet sheer dress was enhanced with a climbing floral fringe which added drama to Selena’s stylish look. The bugle beads sparkled under the lights on stage, when she and Rema went to accept the award. Unique and arty just like the singing goddess, the intricate bead work and floral patterns blended beautifully and complemented Selena to the T.
Looking like art in motion, Selena Gomez was styled by celebrity stylist Erin Walsh. She accessorised with jewellery from Pasquale Bruni’s Giardini Segreti collection. The diamond rings and earrings set in floral designs are inspired by the secret gardens of Milan. A tribute to the female worlds that are full of passion, the jewels are handmade in Italy with artisanal techniques. The jewellery added sparkle to Selena’s overall look.
Keeping it fresh and minimal, Selena’s makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo. Letting her hair breathe the success she deserves, her hair was styled by celebrity hair stylist Anh Co Tran. Keeping it glazed and fabulous, Selena’s golden glazed fire nail art was done by Tom Bachik. Selena completed her look with a pair of strappy red heels from Jimmy Choo.
Selena who is close friends with Taylor Swift, was seen hanging out with the Anti-Hero singer post the awards show. Taylor Swift who bagged nine VMAs was seen cheering for Selena as she and Rema stepped on stage to receive their award. The music awards ceremony was attended by an array of artistes including Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Anitta and Megan Thee Stallion among others.
