Aarudhra Finance Company, headquartered in Chennai, is accused of defrauding around one lakh investors, totalling Rs 2,438 crore, by claiming high-interest rates. Based on the complaint filed by the investors, the Economic Offenses Division police launched a case and apprehended over ten people.

Police revealed that from September 2020 to May 2022, Aarudhra, operating from Aminjikarai, amassed deposits amounting to Rs 2,400 crore from over one lakh investors. The firm promised monthly interest rates ranging from 25% to 30%. Despite these assurances, they failed to deliver the pledged returns and principal amounts. Furthermore, the company employed agents and held meetings at luxurious hotels to attract investors.
After receiving complaints from depositors, the Economic Offences Wing filed a case under multiple IPC sections, alleging cheating and criminal breach of trust. Suresh, accused of avoiding summonses and residing in different countries for two years, showed up at the EOW CID headquarters in Ashok Nagar, accompanied by his legal representatives. The police recorded his statement during the session.
Accusations have been made against 21 individuals, including directors and agents. In May, the special wing arrested 10 persons, including two directors named Baskar and Mohan Babu. Rajasekar, the managing director, and his wife, who are absconding and hiding in Dubai, have lookout notices issued against them.
