Thar Roxx will be better-equipped than the Thar 3-door.
The Thar 5-door, one of Mahindra’s highly-anticipated SUVs, will launch in India on August 15. Mahindra has now confirmed that the model will be named the Thar Roxx, and showed the exterior of the upcoming SUV.

Mahindra Thar 5-door: exterior, interior design
The images revealed by Mahindra today confirm details seen when the Thar 5-door was recently spied undisguised. The Thar Roxx lifestyle SUV will have a new grille with six slots, double-stacked, unlike the seven-slot design of the 3-door Thar. The circular headlamps remain, however, it will get an LED projector setup with C-shaped DRLs.
Inside, it will be equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays and a panoramic sunroof. Other features will include a 360-degree camera, LED lighting all around, diamond-cut alloy wheels and ADAS Level 2.

Mahindra Thar 5-door: powertrains
The Thar 5-door will be offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre entry-level diesel one, a 2.2-litre diesel or a 2.0-litre petrol unit, with manual and automatic gearboxes to choose from. Apart from the standard rear-wheel-drive, the SUV will also be available with a 4WD setup, just like the current Thar 3-door.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: launch timeline, expected price
Production for the Thar 5-door has commenced before the launch on August 15, and unofficial bookings have started at the dealer level. Upon arrival, the Thar 5-door will sit above the Thar 3-door in Mahindra’s portfolio. The Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Jimny rival could be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will also give competition to mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, among others.
