While the Scorpio and Gurkha SUVs can be had for around Rs 25 lakh, the upcoming Thar Armada can be considered too.
Q: My budget is around Rs 25 lakh, but I’m confused between the Mahindra Scorpio N 4×4 and the Force Gurkha. Most of my travel is on highways or off-roading through jungles.

Autocar India says: The Gurkha’s boxy styling and tall proportions gives it a special road presence and appeal. It is also a very capable 4×4 and has a good ride quality. However, compared to the Scorpio N, it is crude and lacks the finesse to be a comfortable everyday car. The Mahindra is better thanks to its superior cruising ability and refinement, and it’s very capable off-road too. Overall, the Scorpio N is a far better choice. Additionally, a five-door Force Gurkha is also under development, which could come sometime this year. However, it will still not have the finesse of the Scorpio N. Another option for you could be the upcoming Thar 5-door, likely to be called the Thar Armada which will go on sale later this year, and will be priced around Rs 25 lakh.
