The eighth month of the Hindu calendar is known as the Kartik Maas. It is believed this month is one of the favourable months for Lord Vishnu’s puja and hence is considered a holy period for Hindus. As per beliefs, Kartik Maas is the month that yields good results for devotees. During this time, devotees are expected to take holy baths in the Ganges, engage in charitable deeds, donate lamps, do yajna and observe fast.
As per the scriptures, bathing in holy rivers, donating to the poor and helpless and fasting are believed to help one get rid of their troubles. During this holy month, many also worship Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Kartikeya and Tulsi. To get good results, even Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped during this month. According to the Hindu calendar, the month of Kartik this year began on October 29 and will end on November 27. All types of worship during this month are considered fruitful.
Bathing during the Kartik Maas has special significance. According to the Skanda Purana, the month of Kartik is considered very important. In this month, it is believed that Lord Vishnu took the Matsya (fish) incarnation and lived in the water. Hence, bathing holds a special significance during this time.

Since the Tulsi plant is worshipped during this month, one should make sure to light a ghee lamp near the plant in the morning and evening. To please Goddess Lakshmi, recitation of the Tulsi Chalisa can be done too.
In the temple of one’s home, one must burn 7 camphor (Kapur) every evening during this month. It is believed that doing so will bring positive energy to the house. It will also bring happiness and peace to the house. If there are any conflicts or troubles at home, that will end too.
During the month of Kartik, every Friday, Ashta Lakshmi is worshipped as well. This remedy will bring immense wealth and fame. If done every day for the next 30 days, one will be able to please the Goddess, who will fulfil all wishes.
Bathing in the Ganga river during Kartik month holds great importance, or one can take a bath in any Holy river or mix Ganga water in their bathing water at home. By doing this, they will be able to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
