The Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) has extended the deadline by which certain retired workers can apply for a higher pension. The new deadline is May 3, 2023, according to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).
The EPFO has enabled the application link on its website, so by May 3, eligible retirees can apply for an enhanced EPFO pension there.
The Supreme Court extended the request deadline for a pension increase under EPS 1995 by four months in November 2022. You only have until March 4, 2023 to apply for a higher pension if you retired prior to September 1, 2014, if you were a participant in EPS 1995.
The people who are equipped for EPFO Higher Benefits may now present their applications along with the essential desk work through the single site, as reported by the EPFO.
Higher EPFO Pension: Eligibility According to EPFO, employees who were already members of EPFO on September 1, 2014, and who remained members on or after that date, are eligible to apply for a higher pension.
It’s important to remember that workers who missed the original application deadline can only use this alternative. Over 8,000 people have made online applications for membership, according to official statistics.
The Supreme Court directed the EPFO to publish a circular on February 20. On March 4, 2023, the EPFO finally stopped offering retirees any other options.
