Here’s how you can set up UPI PIN without Debit card

During registration, you can link their UPI ID to their Aadhaar card if you do not have a debit card.

If you are a citizen of India, your Aadhaar card or UIDAI number is a very important document. Almost everywhere now requires your unique 12-digit Aadhaar card number to verify your identity. Aadhaar cards are required for everything, including bank accounts, PAN cards, travel tickets, and other items.

The process of providing identification and taking advantage of various government initiatives has been made simpler by this one document. Even though the majority of us keep our Aadhaar cards in our phones or wallets, not many people are aware that even if you don’t have a debit card, your Aadhaar card can help you use UPI.

One of the digital payment methods that is currently being used the most in the country is the Unified Payments Interface, or UPI. Because it enables users to make contactless payments, the method of payment received a significant boost during the COVID-19 pandemic. A bank account and a mobile number linked to the account are required to set up a UPI ID.

Customers also need to have a debit card in addition to this. During registration, they can link their UPI ID to their Aadhaar card if they do not have a debit card.

A safer, more secure, and more convenient alternative onboarding channel is made available by Aadhaar OTP, which also increases digital footprint. Users can also change their UPI PIN using Aadhaar OTP.

  • To use Aadhaar OTP to set a new UPI PIN:
  • The user chooses to use Aadhaar OTP authentication.
  • After entering the Aadhaar information, the user is verified.
  • The user sets the new UPI pin after entering the OTP from the bank and the OTP from UIDAI.

It is important to note that setting the UPI Pin using the Aadhaar OTP is not required. The customer has the option of using an Aadhaar or debit card.

The following is a list of the banks that only support Aadhaar OTP at the moment:

  • INDUSIND BANK
  • Karnataka Gramin Bank
