Buzz around expected cabinet meeting: 7th Pay Commission DA hike announcement update

The central government is said to be holding a crucial meeting tomorrow, March 22, which may be followed by an announcement about the DA hike.

There is more anticipation and buzz about the next round of Dearness Allowance (DA) for lakhs of central government employees. According to the rules of the 7th Pay Commission, the Centre is expected to offer a 4% DA increase this time around. Any time, the DA increase could be announced. According to the most recent reports, the announcement might come as early as Wednesday.

According to reports, the central government may hold a crucial meeting tomorrow (March 22), following which the DA hike announcement may be made. However, no official update has yet been provided. The auspicious nine-day fasting festival of Chaitra Navratri begins on Wednesday as well.

Employees of the central government will be hoping that the rumors about the cabinet meeting are true. From the current 38%, the percentage will rise to 42% with a 4% increase in DA. If the final figure is 4%, the first hike in 2023 will be similar to the second hike the previous year and 1% higher than the hike in January 2022.

In the face of inflation, the DA hike proves to be significant for central government employees. In the past, there were reports that the DA increase might be announced around Holi, which was on March 8.

The date of the announcement was then suggested by reports to be March 20. However, a Zee Business report indicates that the Center is now likely to make the announcement following a crucial cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
