G-Dragon is being investigated by the Incheon Police over charges of violating drug control laws in South Korea.

After Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun, former BIGBANG member G-Dragon’s name has allegedly cropped up in the ongoing drug controversy. It is suggested the K-pop idol has been booked by the Incheon Police over charges of violating drug control laws in South Korea, as per NEWS1. The Heartbreaker rapper is currently being investigated. However, officials have refrained from providing details about his involvement. “We cannot disclose any specific details as it is a matter that is still under investigation,” stated the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, according to Koreaboo. Earlier, the South Korean police authorities initiated a probe against eight people, including Lee Sun-Kyun and the offspring of the head of an industrial conglomerate.

It is alleged the suspects were involved in consuming illegal drugs at local bars and their homes. Allegations also suggested Lee Sun-Kyun consumed illicit narcotics with the named offspring of the industrial conglomerate. However, the Parasite actor’s legal representative has denied Lee Sun-Kyun doesn’t know any of the suspects. South Korean media outlets also suggest G-Dragon’s management agency has distanced itself from the rapper amid the ongoing controversy. According to Koreaboo, YG Entertainment refused to comment on the K-pop idol’s drug allegations on Wednesday, October 25. “It is difficult to publicly respond as the artist is currently not signed with the label,” stated the agency.

Meanwhile, a report by Yonhap News claims Lee Sun-Kyun’s drug controversy has no connection with G-Dragon’s booking. It is important to note details regarding the drug allegations can only be confirmed when Incheon Police officially issues an update on the rapper’s investigation.

This is not the first time a BIGBANG member’s name has cropped up in a narcotics case. Previously, former member TOP was arrested by police in relation to the usage of marijuana in October 2016. He was suspended from his conscripted police officer duties while serving his mandatory military service. In June 2017, the musician was indicted on drug charges with a court sentencing him to a 10-month jail term after pleading guilty. After undergoing disciplinary action, he was allowed to resume his military service in 2018. In the wake of drug allegations, he also announced parting from his K-pop band.
