Zomato’s NGO Feeding India has doubled its impact, says CEO Deepinder Goyal

Mumbai: ’s non-profit arm Feeding India has doubled the number of meals it serves, Deepinder Goyal, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company announced in a blog post on Wednesday.

Feeding India’s Daily Feeding Programme now serves almost two lakh meals a day to those in need, Goyal said.

“In a span of six months, @FeedingIndia has doubled its impact. From ~1 lakh meals in 2021, we are now serving ~2 lakh meals a day to those in need. Keen to connect with NGOs tackling malnutrition in India. Let us do this together?” Goyal wrote on Twitter.

Feeding India was founded in 2014 by Ankit Kawatra and Srishti Jain, and merged with Zomato in January 2019.

Goyal wrote in the blog post that it was able to achieve this milestone thanks to the help of over “145 local NGO partners and numerous individuals and corporations passionate for the cause”.

Based on its learnings from the last few years, it will expand its focus to include malnutrition and poverty, he said. To do so it will “create evidence-based programmes with measurable outcomes”.

“We plan to achieve this by partnering with social sector organisations that are running targeted interventions to solve malnutrition among children and women in India,” Goyal wrote.

Goyal said the foundation plans to build a portfolio of high-quality NGO partners who will be supported with financial aid and capacity-building tools to measure and scale their impact. It will also partner with organisations to integrate the Daily Feeding India Programme with schools across the country, especially in places where malnutrition is widespread.
