A verified X (formerly Twitter) user named Rajiv Mehta posted a video of the “female model” riding an expensive bike with an “empty Zomato bag”, wearing clothes usually worn by the firm’s delivery executives
“Indore #Zomato marketing head had this idea. He hired a model to drive around with an empty zomato bag for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. @zomato is on a roll,” he posted.
The video has garnered close to about a million views already.
Goyal, however, said Zomato had nothing to do with the activity.

“We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have a[n] “Indore Marketing Head. This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand,” he clarified on X.
Goyal went on to add that “there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food — we (Zomato) have hundreds of women who deliver food everyday to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic”.
According to a 2021 blog post post from Goyal, Zomato has been trying to increase the number of female delivery executives in its fleet.
