The series finale will air on May 16.

Young Sheldon first premiered in 2017, following the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory in 2020. According to CBS, the show garnered an estimated 11 million viewers per episode.

In a recent announcement, CBS has confirmed that the hit series Young Sheldon is set to conclude its run with the upcoming Season 7. The show, serving as a prequel to the widely popular Big Bang Theory, will return to screens on February 15, with its one-hour series finale scheduled for May 16. This final season will be notably shorter than its predecessors, a consequence of the 2023-2024 scripted broadcast season’s truncation. This truncation resulted from the significant disruption caused by the writer and actors’ strikes, which led to a nearly six-month shutdown of Hollywood productions.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, expressed appreciation for the success of Young Sheldon. She highlighted the show’s distinction as a prequel to Big Bang Theory and commended its remarkable cast and unique heartfelt stories that resonated with audiences.

“We extend a sincere thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland and the entire writing and producing teams for six wonderful seasons. We look forward to seeing their final season unfold and giving it a proper send-off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy,” said Reisenbach, as reported by Variety.

Young Sheldon first premiered in 2017, following the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory in 2020. According to CBS, the show garnered an estimated 11 million viewers per episode in Live+35 ratings and multiplatform viewing.

Executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, and Chuck Lorre shared their gratitude to fans for embracing the Cooper family’s origin story.

“Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper, and expanding the story to include the entire Cooper family has been a wonderful experience,” said executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre. “We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire ‘Young Sheldon’ family, we’re excited to share this final season with you.”

The cast includes Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper Sr., Annie Potts as Connie Meemaw Tucker, Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper Jr., and Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper. Jim Parsons, who portrayed Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, serves as the series’ narrator.

The most recent season saw Sheldon embarking on a summer program in Germany, coinciding with a destructive tornado in town that ravaged Meemaw’s house.

The series, created by Lorre and Molaro, is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Additional executive producers include Nick Bakay, Jim Parsons, and Todd Spiewak.
