Xiaomi overtook Apple to become the top-shipping wearable brand.

iaomi has topped the wearable sector globally in Q1 2017, beats Apple, Fitbit, Samsung.

Xiaomi claims to be the best selling wearable company worldwide. Xiaomi India VP and Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain on Thursday tweeted that the company after ruling the smartphone space, has now taken over the wearable industry as well.

Manu Jain in the tweet further mentioned that Xiaomi has topped the wearable sector globally in Q1 2017.


In the list of top 5 wearable companies in the world posted by Jain, Xiaomi is definitely the first one, which is followed by Apple, Fitbit, Samsung and lastly Garmin.

He in the tweet writes: “Xiaomi overtakes Apple, Fitbit to become #1 wearable device company in the world. RT if u love your #MiBand. Share your fav #MiBand story.” That being said overtaking wearable companies like Apple and Fitbit, is surely a great deal for Xiaomi, that is most popular for its affordable Redmi phones.

The report coming from Xiaomi states that the shipment volumes of the Chinese smartphone vendor comprises of 3.6 and occupies a market share of 14.7 per cent.

The report further shows that Xiaomi beats Apple with just a small margin. Apple’s shipment volume is same as Xiaomi — 3.6, while on the other hand, the market share of the company is 14.7 per cent.

Third in the list is Fitbit, which falls behind drastically when compared to Xiaomi and Apple. Which is quite surprising. The report states that Fitbit in Q1 of 2017 has a shipment volume of 3.0, while the market share is as low as 12.3 per cent.

Fibit is further followed by Samsung has a shipment volume of 1.4 and market share is around 5.5 per cent. Further, Garmin has a shipment volume 1.1 and market share of 4.6 per cent.

Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 is the latest fitness band by the Chinese company. Xiaomi opened a Mi Home store in Bengaluru, India, and Mi Band 2 is one of the many products that is available.

Mi Band 2 is also available on online retail stores and on Xiaomi India website at Rs 1,999. Mi Band 2 comes with an OLED display which allow users to keep a track of their heart rate.

It counts every heart beat and is said to be scratch-proof and carries anti-fingerprint coating as well. Xiaomi also says that Mi Band 2 can run for 20 days on single charge.
