Women Have Higher Body Temperature Than Men: Study –

This study was conducted by Stanford University.

A new study sheds light on the differences in body temperature between men and women.

Contrary to the common belief that a body temperature above 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is a sign of having fever, recent study supports the notion that normal body temperature varies. There is a possibility that someone even with a temperature of 100 degrees may not have a fever. This study also sheds light on the differences in body temperature between men and women.

A study was conducted by Stanford University researchers, from 2008 to 2017. It analysed the temperature of 6,00,000 individuals, challenging the widely-held notion of a standard normal temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.

Surprisingly, the research found that the normal body temperature in men was lower than that in women. To put it another way, if the normal temperature in men is 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s 101 degrees Fahrenheit in women, indicating that women’s bodies run slightly hotter.

The study found that the normal body temperature of elderly and tall individuals is lower than that of the average man. Additionally, it highlighted that people generally feel the coldest in the morning and the hottest around 4 pm.

Furthermore, the study indicates that women experience higher body temperatures during ovulation (between the 10th and 16th day of the menstrual cycle, when the egg travels from the ovary to the fallopian tube) compared to when they are on their period. This challenges conventional ideas about body temperature and provides valuable insights into individual variations.

The study reveals that an individual’s baseline body temperature varies based on factors like height, weight, age, and gender, leading to diverse perceptions of fever. The widely-accepted standard of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit has thus been debunked.

Alongside, the study highlighted that body temperature is also determined by clothing, weather, physical activity, and beverage intake. This creates the need to have a more clear understanding of what defines normal body temperature.
