Will you be charged Rs 1,000 fine if documents not linked? Here’s the reality: PAN-Aadhaar news

Will you be charged an expense of Rs 1,000 for the late Skillet Aadhaar connect beginning today?

The Indian government has extended the linking limit for Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Aadhaar card by three months to June 30, 2023. With this ruling, the previous deadline, which was March 31, 2023, was recently extended.

The Income Tax Department required taxpayers to link their PAN with Aadhaar before the previous deadline. In any case, the drawn out date has given citizens motivation to unwind.

On its website, the Income Tax department has provided links to determine whether PAN is connected to Aadhaar. If a taxpayer doesn’t connect their PAN to Aadhaar by the new deadline, they won’t be able to use banking services, file income tax returns, or trade in the stock market.

Beginning July 1, 2022, a punishment of Rs.1,000 will apply to PAN holders who neglect to interface their PAN Aadhaar until June 30, 2023. PAN will cease to function on July 1, 2023, if the link is not established.

Taxpayers can go to the Income Tax e-filing portal and select “Quick Links” on the homepage to check the status of their Aadhaar-PAN link online. After that, they should enter their PAN and Aadhaar numbers by clicking on “Link Aadhaar Status.”

A message indicating that the PAN is already linked to the given Aadhaar will be displayed if the two are linked. The message will state that the request has been sent for validation if the Aadhaar-PAN link is currently active.

Taxpayers can also send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 to check the status of their Aadhaar-PAN link. The message you receive will indicate that the PAN and Aadhaar cards are already linked in the ITD database if they are linked. The taxpayer will be informed that Aadhaar is not linked to the PAN in the ITD database if it is not linked.
