Nutritionist Anjali Mukherjee shared a post on her Instagram highlighting the reasons for weight gain in women above 40. According to her, “One of the main reasons why women over 40 gain weight is that their metabolism slows down. They simply don’t burn calories as efficiently as they did a few years ago. Even women who exercise experience weight gain around their abdominal region.”

  1. Putting stress on habits that can help in maintaining a healthy weight even after 40, she shared some simple and useful tips.
  2. If you want to grab a snack, then have nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.
  3. Our body needs to have plenty of protein to stay active and increase metabolism, so increase protein intake
  4. Exercising for just 30 minutes a day can make you shed kilos and build strength and flexibility.
  5. Eat a diet rich in fiber. Include sabja or chia seeds, or isabgol, once or twice a day to your diet.
  6. Have vitamin, calcium, and iron supplements to fight nutritional deficiency.
  7. Avoid grains, if eating out.
  8. Consume whole grains, whole dals, fresh fruits, and fresh vegetables daily
  9. Have at least 8 hours of good sleep.
