According to the Hindu calendar, there are 12 Purnima days yearly, but Sharad Purnima holds particular importance. This day is also known as Raas Purnima and Kojagari Purnima. People believe that on the night of Sharad Purnima, Lord Krishna performed the sacred Maha Raas ritual with the Gopis, which is why it is called Raas Purnima.

On this day, Goddess Lakshmi comes to earth and thus, the day is also known as Kojaguri Purnima. During this sacred time, kheer is a special traditional dish used to perform the rituals. But do you know the benefits of consuming kheer? Astrologer Rishikant Mishra Shastri spoke about this in an interview with News 18.

Date and Time of Sharad Purnima 2024:

According to the astrologer, this year, the auspicious muhurat of Ashwin Shukla Purnima will start at 8:40 PM on October 16, Wednesday and will stay till 4:55 PM on October 17. Therefore, Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on October 16, 2024, Wednesday.

On October 16, the moonrise will be at 5:15 PM. Traditionally, kheer should be placed under the open sky. This year, the ideal time to place the kheer starts at 8:40 PM.
