Who is required to link their Aadhaar, PAN and who is not?: PAN-Aadhaar news

PAN-Aadhaar link: PAN will cease to be valid on July 1, 2023, if it is not linked to Aadhaar.

PAN-Aadhaar link news: The Centre has once more extended the deadline of three months to link PAN and Aadhaar. According to the Income Tax Division, PAN card holders will be able to link the two documents by June 30, 2023. PAN will cease to be valid on July 1, 2023, if it is not linked to Aadhaar.

During the time that a PAN is inactive, there will be no refunds on those PANs, no interest will be paid, and TDS and TCS will be deducted or collected at a higher rate. However, who must link PAN-Aadhaar?

Every individual who was given a permanent account number (PAN) as of July 1, 2017, and who is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number is required to link his or her PAN and Aadhaar on or before June 30, 2023, subject to payment of a prescribed fee of Rs 1,000, in accordance with section 139AA of the Income Tax (IT) Act.

People who are not required to link their PAN and Aadhaar will not be subject to the aforementioned penalties. A non-resident as defined by the Act, a person who is not a citizen of India, and individuals who were eighty years old or older at any time during the previous year fall into this category.

On the Income Tax website, PAN and Aadhaar can be linked together. Link directly here. The two documents can also be linked through SMS.

Step 1: Simply write UIDPAN in the space, followed by a 10-digit PAN number and a 12-digit Aadhaar number.

Step 2: Only the numbers 567678 or 56161 from your registered phone number can receive the SMS.

Step 3: After your PAN and Aadhaar cards are linked, you will receive a confirmation message.
