Which bike to upgrade to from Suzuki Gixxer SF?

I bought a Gixxer SF Fi SP back in November 2017 and have riden 32,000km. I mainly used it for office commutes and occasional weekend rides. I now feel it’s dated, the tyres are worn and the electrical cables need to be replaced due to wear and tear. I like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 for its modern day classic look, but I also like the BMW G 310 RR and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. Which one should I go for? Other suggestions are welcome.

Autocar India says: Considering that you will continue using the bike as a daily, with occasional weekend rides, the Hunter and Gixxer SF 250 will both be easier to live with and affordable.

Bear in mind that the Hunter has a firm rear suspension and a heavy clutch, so if you spend a lot of time on bad roads or in heavy traffic, those two points can become painful. If you are considering the Hunter, try out the Classic 350 as well. It has the same engine, but it is much more comfortable to ride and also more enjoyable if you like riding at a sedate pace.

As for the Gixxer SF 250, it will be a big step up from your current 150, and if you are happy with the Suzuki ownership experience, you should definitely consider it. Bear in mind that the riding position will feel a little more committed and less comfortable than your first-gen SF. If comfort is a priority and you don’t mind a tall seat, check out the V-Strom SX 250 as well.

The BMW G 310 RR is a much more powerful and dynamic motorcycle than the other two and it also costs a whole lot more – both to buy and maintain. If you are tempted by the BMW badge, there is no other option, but if you like the idea of the bike itself, check out the TVS Apache RR 310. It is exactly the same underneath, but has more features, better tyres and comes at a lower price. In that segment, however, the KTM RC 390 is our current pick.

Finally, if you can wait for a few months, the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph middleweights might be just what you are looking for.
