In an old interview, Abhishek Bachchan praised his wife Aishwarya Rai for being a supermom to their daughter Aaradhya.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the former Miss World and acclaimed actress, widely recognised and admired in the world of cinema has been making headlines since time immemorial. Aishwarya, along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, forms one of Bollywood’s most beloved and powerful couples. They are also parents to their adorable daughter, Aaradhya, born in 2011. While there are many instances where Abhishek and Aishwarya had professed their admiration for one another, an interview of the Dasvi actor from 2017 where he called Aishwarya ‘Supermom’ remains prominent to this date. In the same interview, Abhishek Bachchan had also shared that he was upset with media’s scrutiny over Aishwarya Rai’s weight gain.
Abhishek Bachchan in an interaction with the news agency ANI explained, “When she became a mother her career took a backseat. Today, she does everything for Aaradhya. She is supermom. Soon after Aaradhya was born, the media went at her about her weight gain. Nasty things were written, which really upset me. Anyone who knows her would know that she has never spent a day in the gym. The only time was when we were shooting Dhoom 2 (2006), and Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and I dragged her.”
He continued, “Till date people refer to her as the most beautiful woman in the world, and I know she is immensely grateful for the love. She values her fans and enjoys the adulation as well as the trappings of her career. Even with the hectic travel schedules and erratic work hours, I’ve never heard her complain about front or back of the plane, Maruti or Mercedes. Her focus isn’t on the trivial. It’s these things that leave me charmed.”
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a traditional south-Indian wedding in April 2007, in Mumbai after getting engaged in an intimate ceremony in January 2007. After their wedding, the couple appeared together on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where Abhishek shared the story of his proposal to Aishwarya.
During the interview, Abhishek reportedly revealed, “I was filming in New York for a movie, and I used to stand on the balcony of my hotel room and wish that one day… ‘wouldn’t it be nice if I was together with her (Aishwarya), married?’” The actor further shared that he took Aishwarya to that same balcony and asked her to be his life partner and Aishwarya agreed.
