Directed by Rishab Shetty and starring him in the lead, Kantara A Legend Chapter-1 is scheduled to release in late 2024.

The Kannada film Kantara was a commercial success when it came out back in 2022 and made it on the list of one of the most successful films of the year. Now, the makers have announced a prequel to the film titled Kantara A Legend Chapter-1. The muhurat of the film was held recently at a temple in Karnataka.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara was loved by the audience and the critics last year. The makers announced the prequel film recently and a muhurat was held to commence the making of the upcoming film. The muhurat was held at the Anegudde temple in Keradi, Karnataka, on November 27.

A video of the occasion was shared by the official X account of Hombale Films, the production house behind the film. The video was shared on X and the production house wrote, “The divinity rises again! With the resonance of auspicious chants and an air of anticipation, Here’s a sneak peek of #KantaraChapter1 Muhurat.”

The first-look teaser teaser of Kantara A Legend Chapter-1 was also released by the makers on the YouTube channel of Hombale Films on November 27. It has raked in more than 19 million views on the platform so far and has been liked almost a million times.

It promises an otherworldly cinematic experience for the audience and gives us a glimpse of the intense, violent look of the lead of the film Rishab Shetty. According to reports, the film is scheduled to release in late 2024.

The original film titled Kantara, was released on September 30, 2022. Rishab Shetty was the lead as well as the director of the film. The film also featured Sapthami Gowda, Kishore and Achyuth Kumar. It was produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the banner of Hombale Films. B Ajaneesh Loknath was the music composer of the film. It was made on a budget of Rs 16 crore, and collected around Rs 400 crore to Rs 450 crore at the box office. It became the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
