The festival of Navratri is considered to be auspicious and is celebrated with great pomp and fervour across India. As Navratri is just around the corner, preparations have already begun with utmost enthusiasm. As per the Hindu calendar, this year Navratri will commence on Sunday, October 15, and will conclude on October 23, the ninth day of the festival, followed by Dussehra on October 24. During these nine days, nine different forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped and devotees seek the blessings of the goddess. As per astrological calculation, Goddess Durga will be riding atop an elephant this year. This is considered auspicious. There are a few rituals one can perform these nine days to make the Goddess happy and seek her blessings.

As per astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram, people engage in various rituals and pray for happiness and good fortune. To please the Goddess, some take the help of simple kitchen ingredients like spices and cloves. It will not only please the deity, but can make devotees’ luck shine and bring prosperity and happiness in their lives.

It is believed that cloves are very dear to Goddess Durga. Hence, offering her a pair of cloves along with roses for nine days can be fruitful for you. To please Lord Hanuman during Navratri, light a mustard oil lamp in the Hanuman Temple. Next, place the cloves in the oil and pray to the Lord to fulfil your wishes.

After bathing and meditating, one can burn camphor and clove together and spread its smoke throughout the house in the morning. It is believed that by doing this, all the negativity gets eliminated from the house. During these nine days, offer a pair of cloves to Shivling as well. This can help one get rid of the effects of Rahu and Ketu.

In case you have financial problems, tie a clove in yellow coloured cloth and hang it in a corner of your house. It may help you get rid of monetary issues. If you are looking for a job and facing many challenges and setbacks, then during Navratri, take a pair of cloves and move them in circular motions seven times atop your head and then offer them to Goddess Durga.
