Volkswagen Taigun, Scout, new SUV details, Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler rival -DellyRanks

Scout, the Volkswagen-backed company formed to revive 4×4 brand International Harvester, will show two concept SUVs next month. These two models will go on sale sometime in 2026.

  2. EV SUV to rival the Defender, Wrangler and Bronco
  3. Pickup will be aimed at the F-150 Lightning

Volkswagen Scout SUV and pickup teased

Of the two models, one will be an SUV that’s an all-electric rival to the Land Rover Defender, the Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler. The second is a pickup that will rival the Rivian R1T and the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Teasers show the two models with squared-off, retro-futuristic designs inspired by the orignal International Harvester Scout II – produced between 1971 and 1980. The Scout II used to rival Jeep CJs of that time.

Both models get vertically stacked tail-lights and kinked C-pillars. Higher variants will come with chunky all-terrain tyres, and there are talks of more road-focused variants as well.

Scout will manufacture both vehicles at a new plant in South Carolina, United States using batteries and electronics supplied by Magna. The Scout SUV and pickup will be based on a new ladder-frame platform that’s completely unrelated to the MEB and PPE architectures used by Volkswagen globally.

Production of the Scout SUV will begin in 2026 and the VW Group plans to gradually ramp up the factory’s output to 2,00,000 units annually.
