‘Visit The Dam Before Taking Decision:’ Actress Pooja Gandhi On Cauvery Water Dispute –

Pooja urged the government to think their decision through.

Pooja shared a video on Facebook to express her anger on this issue.

Amid the tension escalating between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery Water dispute, the Karnataka government was ordered to release 5,000 cusecs of water for 15 days. In the aftermath, Karnataka witnessed unrest with farmers protesting against releasing water, as the state is already experiencing a relentless dry spell. Now, Sandalwood actors have also joined the bandwagon to voice their concerns over the issue. Among those who raised their voices were Sudeep, Darshan, Rishab Shetty, and Shiva Rajkumar. Now, Kannada actress Pooja Gandhi has also shared her thoughts on the same. Pooja shared a video on Facebook to express her anger on the Cauvery water dispute. She said, “The ERO officials should witness the scenario themselves before taking any decision. They should visit the tribunal and check the condition of the KRS Dam and see the condition. They should see for themselves if the dam has enough water to be released.” In the video, she further added, “The government should understand the situation before releasing the water.”

The Karnataka government decided not to release water to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and consulted legal experts to decide what would be the next course of action. The state has cited severe drought in parts of the state behind taking the decision to not release water. “Taking note of the severity of drought in the Cauvery Basin in Karnataka, which has been increasing and putting at greater risk, even drinking water needs and minimum needs of irrigation, the state made submissions that it is not in a position to release water unless the inflows into reservoirs improve,” the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) said in a statement.

Apart from Pooja, actor Kiccha Sudeep also voiced his concern over the issue and said, “Our Cauvery, Our Right. I am hopeful that the incumbent government will not let our farmers down. I urge the experts to come up with a strategy to solve the issue and provide justice. I will always lend my voice to the fight for issues concerning our land, water and language. May Goddess Cauvery protect Karnataka.”
