Vijay Varma said that Jaane Jaan co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan lights up the room with a slight shift in her demeanour and her eyes.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is busy promoting her OTT debut film, Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan. The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in prominent roles. The three actors cannot seem to stop praising one another in interviews ahead of the film’s release. In a recent interview, Vijay Varma spoke about Kareena’s sense of detachment and how her presence lights up a room.
Talking to Film Companion, Vijay said, “Kareena is also a very switch off switch on actor. So, I would just talk about food with her because that’s our favourite subject to talk about. We’ll discuss food and then Sujoy will tell us that our shot is ready and immediately she’ll be right there in the scene. Until that one moment came, I saw her make a little flip. It was so good. It was so effective. I couldn’t sleep that night. I saw how Kareena Kapoor Khan completely lights up the entire room with just a small little shift in her demeanour, in her eyes… it’s beautiful to watch.”
Jaideep Ahlawat also added, “She has that ease to be herself and to be disconnected also… You can’t see her preparing, that’s the point. Suddenly she’s talking and then action and goes oh.” Jaideep then recalled that on the first day of the shoot, he was taking a picture with Kareena. Kareena told him to pout for the photo. Jaideep said, “She’s like come on, pout. For me, I can’t do that.”
Kareena, who was also present at the interview, quipped, “Kyu, FTII main pout karna nahi sikhaya? (Why, you weren’t taught how to pout at FTII?)” Kareena’s remark resulted in uproarious laughter from the audience.
Kareena’s fans took to the comments section to laud her quick wit. One person wrote, “Lmfaooo this is Kareena!!!” Another fan wrote, “Kareena’s comic timing better than most comedians.” One person commented, “Guys, give it to her man. Her choices and her journey speak for her.”
Jaane Jaan was released on Netflix on Thursday, September 21. The day also marks Kareena’s 41st birthday. The mystery thriller is an adaptation of the Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. In the film, Kareena essays the role of Maya D’Souza, a single mother who becomes the prime suspect after her abusive husband goes missing.
