Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Tamil film Maharaja has set the cash registers ringing upon its release on June 14, 2024. According to reports, the film has collected Rs 61.30 crore and is now reportedly ready for its OTT release. As per recent reports, Maharaja will start streaming on Netflix from July 19. No confirmation regarding this news has been received officially yet. Nithilan Saminathan has penned and directed this film. B Ajaneesh Loknath wrote the film’s soundtrack, while Dinesh Purushothaman handled the cinematography. Philomin Raj did the editing. Passion Studios and The Route have backed this film.
Maharaja has garnered applause from all quarters including Kerala. As per reports, the film is performing well in Kerala and has entered the second week of its theatrical run. According to Sree Combines, who released Maharaja in Kerala, more screens are being installed around the state to fulfil the increased demand for the film. Seeing the success of the film, the makers of Maharaja organised a success meeting in Kochi on Thursday, June 20. Vijay Sethupathi attended the event, and on the occasion, the 46-year-old actor thanked the Kerala viewers for the wide recognition of the film.
Addressing the media at the success meet, Vijay Sethupathi said that the team didn’t expect such an amazing response for Maharaja in Kerala. He said, “We thought the movie would have a good run in Tamil Nadu. But we’re extremely happy with the overwhelming response it got outside the state. People are showering love on every actor and technician who worked on the film. I don’t know what to say!” Lastly, he also thanked the Malayali audience for making Maharaja a phenomenal hit.
Vijay Sethupathi has many other projects in the pipeline. These include Peddi, Viduthalai Part 2 and others. Viduthalai Part 2, written and directed by Vetrimaaran, is the most anticipated one among these. As per report, a young version of Vijay Sethupathi’s role will be presented in the film using de-aging technology. Reportedly, the makers of Viduthalai 2 are aiming for a grand release on Diwali 2024.
