Vijay Deverakonda opened up about his claim that he’ll deliver a Rs 200 crore film. The statement was made during Liger’s release and it was dubbed ‘arrogant.’
During the promotions of Liger, Vijay Deverakonda declared that his Bollywood debut film would surpass the Rs 200 crore mark. However, the film bombed at the box office. In a recent media interaction, Vijay looked back at the statement and recalled that many dubbed it as ‘arrogant.’ He said that while he has given a Rs 100 crore film, he still believes he can and will deliver a film that will mint Rs 200 crore at the box office.
“Six years back, I scored the biggest of my career with Geetha Govindam, which was directed by Parasuram. Everyone asks me to do a film like Geetha Govindam. The impact created by that film is marvelous. I delivered back-to-back good films during that time. During Pelli Choopulu’s time, I told in an interview that I wanted my films to amass 100 crores. I achieved it with my fourth film,” Vijay said, as quoted by 123Telugu.com.
“I received immense love for Geetha Govindam. Though I tried my best, I haven’t given a better film than it. I gave another statement that I will deliver a 200 crore film. But that didn’t happen. Many asked me why I gave such a statement. They said that I sounded arrogant. It is wrong that I couldn’t achieve a 200 crore film after giving such a bold statement. One day, I will surely deliver a 200-crore grosser. Till then, I will be ready to face the wrath of people. That is because I believe in myself,” he added.
Vijay is currently gearing for the release of his upcoming film, Family Star. Co-starring Mrunal Thakur, Vijay has been on a promotional spree with the actress since the trailer was released. The trailer has got fans excited and the songs are also being loved by them. The film is slated to release on April 5.
