Domkundwar is a solo general partner (GP) at Better Capital, unlike most venture capital funds which run as a partnership among a few executives.
The fund—Better Capital Ventures I—is backed by founders, operators and investors who are former or current leaders at Meta Platforms (Facebook), Google, Uber, LinkedIn, Tiger Global, TPG, as well as other top 10 growth venture and hedge funds, it said. It already has a portfolio of more than 125 companies, with some of the notable ones being Open, M2P Fintech, Rupeek, Teachmint, Slice, Jupiter, and Khatabook.
Better Capital’s fund will invest in pre-seed and seed rounds across sectors with a median cheque size of $300,000. The firm started investing in pre-seed stages in Indian companies in 2018. It closed fundraising within 40 hours of launch, a record for such a fundraise
“Our LPs are not just extremely accomplished leaders, but they are deep believers in what we are doing at Better and want to actively support our founders,” Domkundwar, founder and chief executive of Better Capital, said. “We have been fortunate to partner with several firms and have created a playbook to collaboratively co-build with founders from the idea stage and bring the right set of resources including access to top tier operators and global funds.”
