If you’re buying an used vehicle, its important to minutely check the service and maintainence records.
I am planning to buy a used November 2020 model Toyota Yaris CVT that’s driven 62,000km. I have verified the service record and all services have been done at Toyota’s authorised service centre. The asking price for the car is Rs 7.5 lakh, and it is under warranty till November 2023. Please suggest if I should buy the car.

Autocar India says: While the asking price for the 2020 model Toyota Yaris G CVT variant seems reasonable, 62,000km is a lot of mileage and would likely require repairs of different sorts.
Despite the car being well maintained, you could be looking at suspension, air conditioning system and brake repairs in the near future, while the CVT would need transmission fluid replacement as well. It must also be ensured that the previous owner has diligently stuck to all CVT fluid replacement intervals during periodic servicing, as prescribed by the manufacturer, else it could be a costly affair if there is any failure after the warranty expires.
Since the Yaris is already discontinued, and you would be spending close to Rs 8 lakh, the depreciation hit and the possibilities of hassles are much higher. Therefore, we would recommend opting for a brand-new Honda Amaze CVT instead, which is an equally spacious and well-built car, and will come with the peace of mind that only a new car can bring.
