Urvashi Dholakia was just 18 when she parted ways with her then-husband and decided to raise their sons Kshitij and Sagar as a single mother. In a recent interview, Urvashi opened up about her separation and admitted that it wasn’t easy for her. She shared that it took an emotional and mental toll on her. The 45-year-old actress further revealed that she even locked herself up in a room for a month after their divorce.
“There was a time when I had locked myself in a room for a month just to introspect about what happened. I literally shut down myself and didn’t talk to anybody. Just to figure out how to go ahead with this,” Urvashi told Hautterfly.
“Separation is a separation. It hurts. I couldn’t let it get to me. I was very young. If my parents weren’t there, then I don’t know what I would do. If I am sitting here with you today, at this time and in this era, then I have to give credit to my parents. It means, if they hadn’t supported me… there are so many girls who don’t get support,” the actress added.
Urvashi mentioned that her twin sons have also not shown any interest ever in knowing their father. “We’ve had conversations, but they’ve also said, ‘We don’t want to know.’ They were very clear. It was their choice. I tried a lot to tell them, but they clearly didn’t want to know. Then even I forgot,” she stated.
The 45-year-old actress also revealed that the boys’ father was also never in touch with them after their divorce. “There has been no touch ever since they were a year and a half old. By the time I turned 18, I was a mother as well as a father,” she said.
On the work front, Urvashi Dholakia has been a part of several hit shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kabhii Sautan Kabhi Saheli, Mehendi Tere Naam Ki, and Kahin Toh Hoga.
