Upcoming car, SUV price announcements and unveilings in July 2022

Prices for the Citreon C3, Volvo XC40 Recharge and Audi A8 L will be announced this month.

The coming weeks will see several new launches across segments and price ranges – two new SUVs, a new luxury sedan and yet another addition to India’s growing list of EVs. The budget end of the market will also see an important new addition from Citroen. Read on to know more about all-new cars and SUVs headed to our market in the coming weeks.

1. Audi A8 L – July 12

Kicking things off at the premium end of the market will be Audi‘s mid-life update for the A8 L, and it gets a reprofiled front and rear-end, with the biggest change being a larger grille with a new mesh pattern. The interior, however, will largely remain unchanged, and so will what’s under the hood – the A8 L will continue with the 340hp, 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech. Bookings for the A8 L facelift are already underway, and our dealer sources indicated an expected price tag of Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom, India).

2. Hyundai Tucson – July 13

The new-gen Hyundai Tucson, which is radically different from the outgoing version, has been around globally since September 2020, and an India unveiling will finally take place on July 13. The new Tucson comes with Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language, which translates to the interior too, with the SUV even expected to come with ADAS features – a first for a Hyundai in India. Under the hood, the Tucson is expected to come with a pair of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, with the higher variants also getting AWD. We can also confirm that the Tucson will be offered in its long wheelbase guise in India and prices will be announced sometime in August.

3. Citroen C3 – July 20

The C3 will be Citroen’s first mass-market product for India, prices of which will be announced on July 20. In the run up to its launch, Citroen has been steadily expanding its dealer network to have as many as 20 outlets across 19 Indian cities. Under the hood, the C3 will come with two engine options – 82hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, or a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. For an in-depth review of the C3’s performance, features and practicality, refer to our review here. Citroen will be looking to differentiate the C3 with a focus on customisation and offer it with three accessory packages with over 50 options.

4. Maruti Suzuki’s Creta rival – July 20

Maruti Suzuki‘s version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be unveiled on July 20 and is likely to be called the Maruti Suzuki Vitara. It will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform and get two 1.5-litre petrol engines – one with mild-hybrid tech and another with strong hybrid tech. Maruti Suzuki’s midsize SUV, along with its Toyota cousin, will be the only models to boast of strong-hybrid technology in this segment. Maruti Suzuki is expected to announce prices of its midsize SUV sometime in August, and sell it via its Nexa dealerships.

5. Volvo XC40 Recharge – July 26

Volvo will announce prices for the locally assembled XC40 Recharge on July 26. The SUV is powered by two electric motors producing 408hp and 660Nm of torque, and comes with a 78kWh battery that gives it a claimed range of 418km on the WLTP cycle. We have already reviewed the XC40 Recharge in India, but do note that the SUV that will be launched will essentially be the facelifted version of the XC40 Recharge, featuring a new iteration of the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ Daytime Running Lamp and more aggressive bumpers. We estimate the Volvo XC40 Recharge to fall in the Rs 60 lakh-65 lakh price range (ex-showroom).
