Upcoming BMW G 310 RR to get different visor and headlight

BMW will equip its version of the Apache RR310 with a different visor and headlight.

BMW Motorrad is all set to launch its TVS Apache RR310 based motorcycle, which is likely to be called the G 310 RR, on July 15. After releasing a teaser image of the upcoming motorcycle’s rear end, the manufacturer has now released two more teaser clips on their social media channels, which give away a few more details.

  • Two colour options expected – White and Black
  • Gets normal discs in place of the petal shaped units on the TVS
  • Will rival the TVS Apache RR310 and KTM RC 390

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the teaser clips is that BMW will give the motorcycle some tweaks to differentiate it from the Apache RR310 it’s based on. Although not clearly visible, it appears that the G 310 RR gets a different visor that tapers more sharply towards the centre than the RR310’s. It also appears that the motorcycle gets a tweaked headlight unit with different LED DRL signatures.

The teaser video also confirms the presence of two colour options for the upcoming bike – White and Black. The White option also appears to get graphics in the traditional BMW colours (Blue and Red).

A second teaser video shows the bottom half of the BMW G 310 RR from the side, which confirms that it’ll have the same alloy wheels, suspension setup and upswept exhaust end can as the Apache RR310. However, the BMW appears to get normal disc brakes, in place of the petal discs on the TVS. And it seems though that the discs will be of the same size (300mm front and 240mm rear) as on the TVS and BMW’s G 310 R naked bike.

Other than these things, the teasers don’t reveal much more. In terms of the engine, BMW is expected to carry over the Apache RR310’s 312.2cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine in the same state of tune. This unit produces 34hp at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm of torque at 7,700rpm.

The pricing will be crucial for the upcoming motorcycle, however. For reference, the BMW G 310 R and the Apache RR310 are both priced at Rs 2.65 lakh. On the other hand, the recently launched KTM RC 390 is priced at Rs 3.14 lakh, but it has a significant performance advantage. It is likely that BMW will price their bike between the G 310 R/Apache RR310 and the RC 390.

All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi
