Through ‘Tips’, users can send cash payments to their favourite creators or small business owners on Twitter.
With Paytm Payments Services partnering with ‘Tips’, users will also be able to use a host of services provided by Paytm, including Paytm UPI, Paytm wallet, Paytm Postpaid (buy-now-pay-later), debit and credit cards, and net banking.
ET had first reported in May, last year tha
t Twitter was experimenting with a ‘Tip’ feature in India and collaborated with Bengaluru-based payments company Razorpay, as its first partner. ET had also reported that Twitter was not expected to charge users for this service, and was looking to collaborate with more payment processors to render the service in India.
Since November, last year, Tips is now available to all Twitter users above 18 years of age on iOS and Android in India.
“We strive to offer seamless and secure digital payments to businesses and consumers. In India, millions of people already use Paytm for their everyday payments and we are excited to partner with Twitter to enable payments for Tips. This will support the creator community with monetisation capabilities through payment solutions offered by Paytm Payment Gateway,” said Praveen Sharma, chief executive officer, Paytm Payments Services.
