In a recent investor call, TVs has stated that it has new ICE and electric two wheelers slated for release this year, with new EV products being close to launch. TVS will also launch its first electric 3 wheeler this year.

The company also states that it is working on iQube variants with different battery capacities. This makes sense as this is an approach that rivals like Ather, Ola and Bajaj have taken to widen the price spread of their products. The iQube’s price has grown substantially and it is now one of the more expensive options with a starting price of Rs 1.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

With that considered, it is possible that TVS will launch an iQube with a smaller battery pack to bring the price down. In our tests the TVS iQube returned 107.5km in its Eco mode on a full charge and the company could be looking at offering something with a 20-30 percent reduction in true range.

While the TVS iQube has grown to be a big seller, the company has only offered it with one battery capacity across a couple of variants. Currently, the iQube ships with a 3.04kWh battery pack and is available in base or S variants with a few features differentiating the two. TVS has had the long promised iQube ST with its massive 5.1kWh battery listed on its website since the revamped iQube lineup was launched two years ago. However that scooter never went on sale and is unlikely to in its original form given the current environment of reducing subsidies. 

The TVS iQube has become the second best-selling electric scooter in the country since it was launched in 2020. The company says sales for its maiden electric offering have doubled in the last financial year with a total of 1.94 lakh units sold. Over 3 lakh iQubes have been sold to date across a rapidly growing network that currently sits at 712 touchpoints. 

The company had mentioned that a new electric two-wheeler would launch in its previous investor call in late January, but no such launch has happened yet. The delay could be down to the fact that TVS is waiting for some clarity in terms of the subsidy situation. The Fame II subsidy expired on March 31 2024 and the reduced EMP scheme is valid till July 31, 2024.
