Triumph Street Triple R, RS: power, features, price
The Street Triple 765 models are powered by a liquid-cooled, 765cc, three-cylinder engine. In the R, this mill is rated for 120hp at 11,500rpm, while in the RS this motor makes 130hp at 12,000rpm. Both make an identical 80Nm of torque at 9,500rpm. Mated to this three-cylinder engine is a 6-speed gearbox, with a bidirectional quickshifter on both variants.Â
Both bikes use an aluminium twin spar frame to nestle the engine but the cycle parts differ greatly. The R uses a Showa USD fork/monoshock setup, while the RS uses a higher-spec Showa fork and an Ohlins Monoshock.
While the R comes with the same Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers as previous model, the RS’ braking hardware has been upgraded to Brembo Stylema units, which replace the already capable M50s it used to ship with previously. The Street Triple R runs on Continental ContiRoad tyres, whereas the track-focused RS is shod with Pirelli’s super-sticky Supercorsa SP V3 rubber.
Both bikes get a comprehensive arsenal of IMU-enabled electronics including multi-level traction control, ABS as well as various riding modes. The R comes with four riding modes including Rain, Road, Sport and Rider (fully customizable). The RS takes it one step further with a Track riding mode in addition to the aforementioned ones. On the Street Triple R, you get a digital display (similiar-looking to the Trident), while on the RS you get a colour TFT dash.Â
In the big bike market, it is almost unheard of for a manufacturer to reduce prices subsequent to a model’s launch but that’s what Triumph India has done for the Street Triple R. The Silver Ice and Pure White colours of the Street Triple R costs Rs 9.95 lakh, while the Crystal White and Matte Baja Orange paint schemes cost Rs 10.21 lakh.Â
The Street Triple RS has seen a price hike of Rs 14,000, to now command Rs 11.95 lakh for the Silver Ice paint job. The Carnival Red, Cosmic Yellow and Phantom Black options are all priced a little higher at Rs 12.21 lakh.Â
All prices ex-showroom, India.
