Triumph recalls Trident 660 over faulty side-stand

The side-stand has been made using the wrong raw material which could cause it to bend over time.

The Triumph Trident 660 made the iconic British brand a little more accessible with its launch, and in doing so, found itself a lot of happy homes. If you are one of these owners, you might want to give your nearest dealer a ring, because Triumph is recalling certain Trident 660s for an issue with their side-stand.

According to a recall document by the USA’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the side-stand has been constructed using an incorrect specification of raw material that could cause it to bend with time and use. As a result, the bike’s lean angle on the stand could gradually increase over time, to the point where the motorcycle could become unstable and fall over.

The supplier of the faulty component is Fujin Corporation Pvt Ltd based in Faridabad, Haryana, and the affected motorcycles were manufactured between 07 February, 2021 and 15 May, 2021. While the NHTSA recall document only pertains to 314 potentially affected motorcycles in the US, units sold in India are also affected by this issue and will be recalled.

Triumph dealers will replace the faulty side-stand with a correct one at no cost to the customers.
