New Innova Hycross gets SUV-like styling cues; first clear picture shows final exterior design.
This is it, we’ve got our hands on the first-ever clear image of the all-new Innova Hycross. Slated to debut globally as the Innova Zenix in Indonesia on November 21, the new Innova Hycross will see its India unveil on November 25, 2022. Now, the first official image of Toyota’s new MPV has surfaced, showing us exactly how the new Innova looks from the front three-quarters.
As mentioned by us recently, the new Innova looks more butch and SUV-like than any of its predecessors. The nose is upright and has a large trapezoidal grille finished in contrast black with chrome surrounds. Its wide front bumper has a unique cheatline in the centre that cleverly merges with triangular units on each corner. The cheatline also houses wide, horizontally positioned LED daytime running lamps. There are faux aluminium bits neatly positioned on each corner of the bumper. The headlamps are wide, wraparound units with dual layers neatly housing LED projector units, there are chrome separators dividing each lamp, and there are also what seems to be another set of daytime running lamps on the top like an ‘eyebrow’.
Moving on to the sides, two distinctive creases run across the length of the doors with both neatly merging with the wraparound tail-lamps, resembling the styling on the Avanza Veloz MPV sold overseas. The Innova Hycross’ glasshouse seems to be as big as that of the outgoing Innova Crysta, promising ample cabin room for all three rows of seats. The alloy wheel design looks upmarket and gives the new Innova a premium look.
There are no pictures of the new Innova Hycross showing its rear styling, however, spy photos have confirmed that the MPV will have horizontally positioned LED tail-lamps, a wide tailgate and chunky bumpers to further accentuate its SUV-like design.
Toyota Innova Hycross: what else is known
The new Innova will ditch its rear-wheel-drive IMV platform for a lighter, more sophisticated front-wheel-drive TNGA modular architecture. As far as engine options go, two 2.0-litre powerplants will be on offer. The lower variants of the Innova Hycross will come with a naturally aspirated engine, while the higher variants will get a strong hybrid set-up similar to that of the recently launched Toyota Hyryder SUV.
