The strong-hybrid powertrain is offered on VX, ZX, ZX(O) trims; panoramic sunroof is also much sought after, according to dealers.
Toyota opened bookings for the Innova Hycross in India on November 25, and two weeks since then, unsurprisingly, it has already garnered good interest from customers. Even before the prices have been announced, our dealer sources are suggesting that waiting period on the Innova Hycross could shoot up to six months upon launch in January 2023.Â
- Innova Hycross ZX and ZX(O) trims seeing bulk of the demand
- Blackish Ageha Glass Flake, Super white are popular colour choices
- Prices are expected to be announced by January 2023
Toyota Innova Hycross: current demand and waiting period
Our dealer sources have revealed that the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) trims are seeing the highest bookings so far. Both trims are only offered with the 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain, which means customers are also growing more accepting towards hybrid technology, thanks to its ARAI-claimed 21.1kpl fuel economy. This is despite an expected price of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec variants – pretty steep for a family MPV.
Interestingly, what’s pulling buyers towards the top-end trims is also the panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats that come in from the ZX trim. This, of course, is the first time the Innova has been fitted with a sunroof and the country’s fascination with this feature is certainly not a surprise anymore.
Our dealer sources have also shared that ‘Super White’ and ‘Blackish Ageha Glass Flake’ are currently the most popular colour choices on the Innova Hycross. While white is a popular colour choice in many Indian cars, the latter is particularly unique as it appears black, blue or green depending on lighting conditions and the angle you view it from.
Toyota Innova Hycross: powertrain, trims, seating layout
The Innova Hycross is available in five trims – G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O). Toyota offers a 172hp, 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine on the G and GX trims, mated to a CVT gearbox. Meanwhile, the VX, ZX and ZX(O) trims are offered with the 186hp, 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain, mated to an e-drive transmission. Both versions are front-wheel drive only, and do not geta manual gearbox option.
The G, GX and VX variants get an option of 7- or 8-seat layouts. However, the top ZX and ZX(O) variants are only available with the 7-seat layout.
Toyota Innova Hycross: launch and expected price
Bookings for the Innova Hycross are currently underway for Rs 50,000, and Toyota is expected to announce the prices in January 2023. The Innova Hycross is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakh-30 lakh and will be sold alongside the Innova Crysta. When launched, it will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 and the Tata Safari.Â
