Toyota has only announced the prices of the G, GX and VX variants of the Crysta; ZX prices will come later.
Toyota recently launched the Innova Crysta with a minor facelift at Rs 19.13 lakh. The Crysta facelift, as we know, is sold alongside the more premium Innova Hycross. The 2023 Innova Hycross looks similar to its predecessor save for an updated front fascia, a slightly smaller and more prominent grille, a chunkier front bumper and redesigned fog lamp enclosures.Â
- Prices for the Innova Crysta start at Rs 19.13 lakhÂ
- Prices for the Innova Hycross petrol start at Rs 18.55 lakh
- Innova Crysta available only as a dieselÂ
Currently, Toyota has only announced the prices of the G, GX and VX trims of the Innova Crysta. Prices of the top-spec ZX trim haven’t been announced yet. Considering that the Innova Crysta is being sold alongside the Innova Hycross, we look at how the two MPVs compare with their prices, variants and respective features.Â
Toyota Innova Crysta vs Hycross variants and pricesÂ
The Innova Crysta is priced from Rs 19.13 lakh for the G trim and Rs 19.99 lakh for the GX trim. This makes it considerably more expensive than the equivalent petrol trims of the Innova Hycross. The Crysta G is dearer by Rs 58,000 compared to the Hycross G, and the price difference between the GX variants of the two MPVs is Rs 59,000.Â
Innova Crysta vs Innova Hycross prices | |||
---|---|---|---|
Innova Crysta diesel | Innova Crysta diesel | Innova Hycross petrol | Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid |
G 7 seat | Rs 19.13 lakh | Rs 18.55 lakh | – |
G 8 seat | Rs 19.18 lakh | Rs 18.60 lakh | – |
GX 7 seat | Rs 19.99 lakh | Rs 19.40 lakh | – |
GX 8 seat | Rs 19.99 lakh | Rs 19.45 lakh | – |
VX 7 seat | Rs 19.99 lakh | – | Rs 24.76 lakh |
VX 8 seat | Rs 19.99 lakh | – | Rs 24.81 lakh |
This is despite the fact that the Innova Hycross is positioned as the more premium offering between the two. Also, worth noting is that the Crysta comes only with a diesel-manual powertrain, while the Hycross, in the G and GX trims, is available only as a petrol-auto.
With the VX variant, however, the pricing turns in favour of the Innova Crysta. Interestingly, even the Crysta VX is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh and much cheaper than the Innova Hycross VX, which is priced from Rs 24.76 lakh. This is because the VX trim of the Hycross and all the trims above it are only available with a strong-hybrid powertrain. The more complicated hybrid technology, along with a longer equipment list, means the VX trim of the Hycross is more expensive vis-a-vis the Crysta.
Toyota Innova Crysta vs Hycross featuresÂ
The G and GX variants of both the MPVs get similar equipment. In the GX trim, both the models come with features such as 16-inch alloys, touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, 16-inch alloys, rear-seat recline and driver seat height adjust. As far as safety goes, the Crysta gets three airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver, while the Hycross comes only with two airbags on the GX variant. When it comes to the seating layout, the G and GX variants of both the MPVs can be had with either 8 seats or 7 seats, with the latter getting captain seats for the second row.Â
In the VX trim, the Innova Hycross offers more features compared to the Crysta. The former gets features like full LED tail-lamps, 360-degree camera, part-digital instrument cluster, rear sunshade and larger 17-inch alloys – all of which the Crysta misses out on.Â
Toyota Innova Crysta vs Hycross powertrain detailsÂ
The Crysta comes with a single 2.4-litre diesel engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Hycross, on the other hand, gets two powertrains. It comes with either a 172hp, 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. It also gets a 184hp, 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain paired to an e-drive transmission. Toyota is not offering the Hycross with a diesel engine or a manual gearbox.Â
Toyota Innova Crysta and Hycross rivalsÂ
The Innova Crysta has no direct rivals at the moment. While the prices overlap with the higher variants of the Carens diesel, no MPV sits in the same price range as the Crysta. However, the Crysta prices overlap with certain variants of SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and the MG Hector. There’s also no MPV in the same price range as the Hycross, but like the Crysta, it competes with aforementioned three-row SUVs, albeit in their higher variants.
