Through this strategic partnership, EV drivers with any mobile phone will be able to pay easily at Elocity HIEVTM and ToneTag-enabled EV charging stations, irrespective of their location or network availability.
ToneTag has completed over 52 million consumer transactions and this strategic partnership with Elocity will help speed up EV adoption, the company said. The technology will be especially beneficial in rural areas and underground parking garages where there is no network connectivity. It will first be rolled out in India before being scaled globally, the company said.
“With ToneTag, customers can make digital transactions just with their voice in their preferred language. We expect the Indian digital payments space to rise fivefold and reach $1 trillion by 2023. With Elocity, we are extending our offline and voice-based payment services to EV drivers to improve their EV charging experience,” Kumar Abhishek, founder and CEO of ToneTag, said in a statement on Thursday.
“The value of integrating our EV charging HIEVTM technology with ToneTag’s voice-based payment system is enormous. Already our integrated HIEVTM platform brings the entire EV charging ecosystem together and it will be further enriched to the benefit of EV drivers by this partnership,” said Sanjeev Singh, founder and CEO of Elocity.
In August 2021, ToneTag had said it was
working with key authorities to enable voice-based payments in India. The company said it planned to launch the service in around 50,000 villages and small towns, allowing people to speak in their own language to complete a Unified Payments interface (UPI) transaction.
