This Suzuki concept car is powered by a Hayabusa engine

Mild hybrid two-seater is now available to virtually drive on the Gran Turismo 7 video game.

Suzuki has revealed the Vision Gran Turismo – its striking new open-top two-seater concept for the Gran Turismo 7 video game. The Vision Gran Turismo is a front-engined, four-wheel-drive super sports car powered by an innovative hybrid powertrain that fuses technology from both its bike and car divisions, and is available to players of the game.

  • Vision Gran Turismo combines a Hayabusa engine and three electric motors
  • Power and torque outputs rated at 432hp and 610Nm
  • Gets cockpit-like interior with yoke-style steering wheel

Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo: what is it?

The Vision Gran Turismo is powered by the same 190hp, 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine found in the Hayabusa flagship sports bike. The engine is paired to three electric motors that boost overall power output to 432hp at 9,700rpm, while maximum torque is 610Nm.

This is Suzuki’s first motorbike-engined car since the uniquely-styled Suzuki GSX-R/4 concept of 2001, although last year’s electric Suzuki Misano concept took cues from two-wheelers.

Power from the engine goes to the rear wheels, while two of the three electric motors power the front wheels. At just 970kg, the concept was developed incorporating “cutting-edge weight-reduction technology”.

The design of the Vision GT looks heavily inspired by the Swift Sport sold in international markets, albeit on steroids. Inside, a yoke-style steering wheel is flanked by two digital mirror screens, with the cockpit-like design focusing heavily on the driver.

“The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo is a VGT that brings back the legendary GSX-R/4 with the latest tech as an all-wheel-drive super-sport overflowing with the sporting mindset of the brand,” said Suzuki. “We hope you enjoy the world of pure sport as presented by Suzuki.”

Although it won’t lead to a production car, it displays themes that could make it into Suzuki models of the future.

Vision Gran Turismo turns six

2022 marks the sixth year of the Vision Gran Turismo project. Dreamt up by Polyphony Digital, the team behind the hugely popular racing game series, the programme invites major manufacturers to create advanced fictional cars to be added to the games.

Suzuki is among other carmakers who have shown off a Vision Gran Turismo car so far, sitting alongside manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche and McLaren. Jaguar also recently showed off its own Vision Gran Turismo car.
