This State government announces restoration of Old Pension Scheme to its NPS employees

The State Government has decided to provide OPS to all of its NPS employees so that they can all live decent lives after they retire.

The Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for government employees, which is part of the National Pension System (NPS), will be reinstated by the Himachal Pradesh government on Friday. In Shimla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over the first Cabinet meeting, at which the decision was made.

Sukhu stated, “The State Government has decided to provide OPS to all of its NPS Employees to ensure that they live a respectable life after retirement,” and he added that the state’s over 1.36 lakh NPS employees will benefit from this decision.

One of the most important “guarantees” offered by the Congress party during the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha elections was the reinstatement of the scheme.

“All citizens should have access to social security,” states the government. He stated that the state government has made the decision to implement OPS for social security and humanity’s sake. “The Government believes that there is nothing that cannot be done,” Sukhu stated during a press conference at Peterhoff in Shimla. “Financial discipline and cutting down on expenses will be the means by which OPS expenditures can be made affordable.”

In addition, he stated that a Cabinet Sub Committee comprised of Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, and Education Minister Rohit Thakur had been established to finalize the plan for putting the Congress Party’s promises to create one thousand employment opportunities in the state into action during the elections into action.

He stated that a second Cabinet Subcommittee had been established to implement the grant of Rs 1,500 to women between the ages of 18 and 60.

“The Health Minister Dr. (Col.) will be a member of this Cabinet Sub Committee. Chander Kumar, Minister of Agriculture, and Anirudh Singh, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj,” he added.

He stated that within a month, these two subcommittees would submit their reports. Sukhu lashed out at the state’s previous government, which was led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for putting Himachal Pradesh in a debt trap that cost the state more than Rs 75,000 crore.

“We have inherited financial liabilities of Rs 4,430 crore as salary arrears to its employees and Rs 5,226 crore as pensioners’ liabilities as pension arrears on the present government due to the financial mismanagement and wasteful spending by the previous BJP government.

” In addition, “the previous government has left the current government with liabilities of approximately Rs1,000 crore as DA of employees and pensioners,” he claimed.

He stated that within a month, these two subcommittees would submit their reports. According to Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Central Government owns more than 8000 crore NPS employees.

“The State Government has decided to provide old pension scheme to NPS employees in order to secure their retirement,” he added. “Despite all these odds,” he continued.
