The movie turned out to be the second highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
It is a treat to watch Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan sharing the screen space. The actors left a prominent impression with Karan Arjun. The 1995 film was directed by Rakesh Roshan and has a lot of iconic scenes and dialogues. The film also created a roar at the box office in its release year. The film turned out to be the second highest-grossing Hindi film of the year after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge surpassed it in October.
The film reportedly was made on Rs 6 crore and with rave reviews from the audience and critics and the stellar star cast of the film, Karan Arjun minted around Rs 43 crore worldwide. The film minted almost 7 times the money it was made on.
Apart from Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Arjun also featured Raakhee, Kajol, Amrish Puri, Mamta Kulkarni, Johnny Lever and Ranjeet, among others in the pivotal roles.
The action drama revolves around the story of the two brothers who seek revenge from their greedy uncle for murdering their father but are eventually killed. They are reincarnated as two different individuals and somehow get to know about their past life and later take their revenge.
But did you know that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were not the director’s first choice as the leads? Rakesh Roshan was initially adamant about casting Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Initially, Sunny was on board for the role but he politely backed from the film. At the same time, Bobby was preparing for his on-screen debut with Barsaat and Sunny felt that his brother might get overshadowed due to his popularity.
The film was then offered to Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan. While SRK was on board and Ajay Devgn turned down the film, his role (Karan) was offered to Salman Khan who accepted it. The actors had surely cast a spell on the audience.
SRK and Salman Khan were recently seen sharing screen space in Pathaan and Tiger 3 which are both under the Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) spy-verse. The actors had made a special appearance in the films.
