Suhana Khan got candid about rollerskating in The Archies song Sunoh.
One of the most awaited films of the year, Netflix’s ‘The Archies’ has released its first song ‘Sunoh,’ featuring Dot (Aditi), Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda. ‘The Archies’ is a coming-of-age musical following the lives of the town’s favourite set of teenagers by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. The music video that was released last week has already struck a chord with fans. Among all the actors, it captured Suhana Khan skating flawlessly to the tune and rhythm of the song. Now the actress has revealed how long it took for her to perfect rollerskating.
In a conversation with the entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, when Suhana Khan was complimented on how her rollerskating was ‘breezy’, she explained, “We started training 5-6 months before we actually started filming. So I was skating everyday. You said that it looked very breezy in the song but I am lucky that you didn’t see us fall or bump into each other which was far from effortless or breezy. But it was fun and I loved every moment of it. Even falling.”
The interviewer asked her whether she had hurt herself while doing so. To that, Suhana replied, “I fell a lot but I didn’t hurt myself luckily. But even before I started, I was like ‘don’t freak out even if I fall’. I was telling Zoya when we started.”
‘Sunoh,’ is a song created by the ingenious duo of Ankur Tewari and The Islanders, lyrically woven by the maestro Javed Akhtar and the young and talented Dot, harmoniously performed by Tejas Menon and Shivam Mahadevan. ‘Sunoh’ helps viewers to immerse into the exciting world of ‘The Archies,’ introducing the characters of the film.
Even Shah Rukh khan had taken to social media to react to the song. Taking to his Instagram and sharing the song, he wrote, “This is so quaint and beautiful the world of The Archies. Also my motivation line for today is ‘Trading my shoes in for wheels under my feet’!” He also tagged director Zoya Akhtar and the entire cast of The Archies.
Legendary Lyricist Javed Akhtar said “Writing ‘Sunoh’ was like unlocking a time capsule of the 1960s’ rock and roll era. It’s a musical experience that bridges the past and present, celebrating the enduring essence of this iconic period through melody and lyrics. Being a part of ‘The Archies’ has allowed me to rediscover the magic of an era that has deeply impacted generations.”
In the Netflix film, Suhana plays Veronica, a character she described as someone with a magnetic personality. “She is unabashedly herself and she knows her worth. That’s something I’m learning from her,” she added.
According to the makers, the 1960s-set film explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion through the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. It will take audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale.
