Tata Punch EV price, exterior, interior, safety and launch.

The Punch EV gets disc brakes on all wheels, which is not available in the ICE-powered variant.

The Tata Punch EV has been spied out in the open for the first time. The car was spotted on a flatbed and there seem to be some new features that have been spotted on this car.

  1. Gets disc brakes at the rear
  2. Gets a Nexon EV-type drive selector
  3. Punch EV also gets an electronic parking brake

Tata Punch EV exterior

The test mule of the Tata Punch EV looks similar to the petrol-powered Punch from the outside. However, one feature that’s notably different are the rear disc brakes, and this could trickle down to the ICE variant of the Punch. There is no visible slot for the charger so we expect it to be situated in the fuel lid, just like Tata’s other electric vehicles.

The Tata Punch is based on the ALFA platform, which does not need significant modifications to switch from an ICE set-up to an electric layout.

Tata Punch EV interior

Currently, there is just a single image of the interior that’s available, but they reveal that the Punch EV gets an electronic parking brake and drive selector from the Nexon EV Max. And while it continues with the same 7-inch touchscreen as the ICE version, Tata could incorporate its new 10.25-inch touchscreen, available on the Nexon EV Max Dark, at a later stage.

Tata Punch EV powertrain

In our previous report, we had mentioned that the car will likely use Tata’s Ziptron powertrain, which consists of a liquid-cooled battery with a permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels. The car closest to the Punch is the Tata Tigor and it is believed that the Punch EV will share the same system, although it is likely to offer multiple battery sizes to appeal to more customers.

Tata Punch EV price, launch

The Tata Punch EV is expected to go into production by June this year and it could be launched around October, following the festive season. The Punch is currently Tata’s second highest selling car after the Nexon, with Tata selling 1,33,819 units of the compact SUV in FY2023. The Nexon ranked fifth with 1,72,138 units sold. The Punch EV is expected to be priced between Rs 9.5 lakh-10.5 lakh.
