Tata Motors is all set to launch its new micro-SUV – Punch – in India very soon.

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors’ latest SUV-inspired Punch has started arriving at the yards and select dealerships have commenced official bookings for the vehicle.

Punch will be the latest Tata product to hit the market and will be positioned under Nexon in the SUV line-up.

The company earlier in August announced ‘Punch’ as the official name. HBX, H2X, and Hornbill were concept precursors of Punch, showcased at different forums.

Punch is based on the ALFA architecture that underpins the Altroz as well. A 3-cylinder, 1.2-litre petrol engine is expected to fire under the hood of the Punch.

Tata Motors shared the exterior handout of Punch and teased the car on its social media handles. Several images from the dealership yard revealed the interior and exterior of the Punch.

Thanks to Harrier-like treatment upfront, Punch packs sleek DRLs running on the top and a chunky headlight cluster under it. Beefy bumper finished in black and its extension on the sides seem to elevate toughness of Punch.

The SUV-inspired Punch may not have 16-inch alloys instead may share stylised wheels with Tiago.

Spy images suggest Punch will be available in both mono-tone and dual-tone colour options.

On the rear, the treatment is fresh. Y-shaped signature lights along with PUNCH embossed in chrome on the tail are distinctive.

Punch gets C-pillar-mounted door handles like the Altroz.
Dealership yard images partly revealed the interiors of the Punch as well. The floating (likely to be 7-inch) infotainment cluster resembles Altroz alongside dual-tone finish of the dashboard.

The steering wheel gets audio-mounted keys, however, it will be interesting to see if Tata offers cruise control with Punch or not. The dual-tone air condition vents are meted out in rectangles.

The AC control knobs, not very clear in the pictures though, are circular, much like the Tiago.

The seat upholstery is in black and triangular patterns. The rear seat gets the comfort of an armrest. Punch is unlikely to offer a sunroof.

Tata Punch is set to hit the market during the festive season and will compete with the likes of Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
