Competition is a great thing and a demonstration of that assertion is seen in the fact that Tata Motors recently updated the Safari SUV’s features’ list.
Wait, what does that have to do with competition? You guys, one of Safari’s key rival, the Mahindra XUV700, is set to be launched in India in a matter of days. In fact, the company recently also launched the Tata Safari Gold edition in India.
So, Tata is trying to up the ante and offer better value with the Safari and such. Anyway, back to the updates; so, the Tata Safari SUV’s mid-range and top-end variants have received some minor features-related updates and along with them, a price hike ranging between ₹7,000 and ₹12,000.
Mechanically as well as in terms of design, the car remains the same, i.e. it gets the same engine and comes sporting no tweaks in design and such.
Now, what do you get for all that extra monies? Plenty, but based on the variant you select; the home-grown automaker is now offering air purifier from the XT mid-range trim onwards.
Besides that, the trim continues to get keyless entry and start, 18-inch alloy wheels, auto headlamps and wipers, LED DRLs, power foldable wing mirrors, tyre pressure monitor, connected car suite, etc.Â
The XZ, XZA, and other variants above them now get wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
These are all the features-related changes Tata Motors has introduced on the Safari SUV. Besides these new revisions, the trim levels continue to come equipped the same provisions as before, of course.
Tata Safari comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that belts out a maximum power output of 168 bhp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The engine can be had with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.
