List includes three EV SUVs and the Altroz EV hatchback.
Tata Motors has been at the forefront of mass market EVs in India, right from the launch of the Tigor EV, the Nexon and Tiago EV and, more recently, the Punch EV. While these are already on sale, the brand is readying four more mass market EVs that will go on sale by late next year.
- Curvv EV to launch in the coming months
- Harrier EV to launch after Curvv EV
- Altroz EV coming next year
On the sidelines of the Punch EV launch, Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, spoke about the brand’s EV line-up and the newly introduced Acti.EV architecture. Starting with the Punch EV, all upcoming passenger EVs will feature this advanced architecture. “Punch is the first one, Curvv will come next. Harrier is also one that will come by the end of this calendar year. Then we would have Sierra and we would have Altroz also coming in 2025,” he further added.
Curvv EV to be the next Tata EV launch
As confirmed above, the Curvv EV will be the next EV SUV from Tata. It will sit above the Nexon EV in the line-up and rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV that will go on sale early next year. The Curvv EV, just like the standard Curvv, will come in a four-door SUV-coupe body style. Tata Motors has cleverly planned to introduce the Curvv EV ahead of the ICE-powered versions, which will help the brand get an edge in the midsize EV SUV segment before the Creta EV arrives.
Harrier EV launch to follow Curvv EV
The next in line will be the Harrier EV SUV that will be closely based on the Harrier EV concept shown at the Auto Expo last year. The Harrier EV will carry over the Land Rover-derived Omega architecture used by the ICE-powered Harrier, and combines that with Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture. Essentially, while the Harrier EV is still based on an ICE platform, it’s heavily re-engineered for electrification. The Harrier EV will go on sale later this year, and as reported by us earlier, it will launch before the long-awaited Harrier turbo-petrol, which is also being readied for a market introduction.
Sierra EV and Altroz EV coming in 2025
Post the launch of the Harrier EV, Tata Motors will also bring the all-new Sierra EV in 2025, which will revive the iconic nameplate for the brand. Tata has also comfirmed the launch of the Altroz EV the same year, and you can read more about the EV hatchback here.
