Curvv will be equipped with a few first-in-segment features; launch on August 7.
The Tata Curvv will be the latest entrant in the mid-size SUV segment, taking a new approach of the coupe-SUV body style – a first in the segment. Apart from the unique proposition, Tata Motors will also pack the Curvv with some class-leading features to have an upper hand in the hotly contested segment.
Here’s a features comparison of the upcoming Tata Curvv with all its rivals including Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the MG Astor.
- Curvv to get powered tailgate, flush door handles over rivals
- To offer ADAS Level 2 safety
- Price reveal on August 7
Tata Curvv vs rivals: convenience features
The Tata Curvv’s equipment list includes features such as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, driving modes, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, power adjustable driver’s seat, and much more. These features are already available on a range of its rivals, however, the Curvv also packs class-leading features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 9-speaker audio system and navigation display on the instrument cluster.
First-in-class features on offer with the Tata Curvv include a powered tailgate with gesture control, flush door handles as well as an illuminated logo on the steering wheel. Moreover, the Curvv will join the Kia Seltos as the only other SUV in this comparison to get 18-inch alloy wheels. Do note that the Creta N Line also gets 18-inch wheels, while the standard version makes do with 17-inchers.
The MG Astor continues to be the only SUV in the segment with a personal AI Assistant. Meanwhile the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder boast a dedicated EV button to switch to pure battery power, thanks to the strong-hybrid powertrain.
The Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are the only ones in the segment that come with an active cylinder deactivation technology, which switches off two out of the four cylinders (1.5L TSI) when the engine is under light load, in order to reduce fuel consumption.
Tata Curvv vs rivals: safety features
The Tata Curvv will come equipped with ADAS Level 2 safety tech, joining the likes of Astor, Creta and Seltos as the fourth offering in the space to offer autonomous safety features. However, the Curvv’s ESP-based Driver Doze Off Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition give it an edge over the others.
The Kushaq and Taigun are the only two SUVs here to get electronic differential lock integrated into the ESP system to improve traction and handling by working as a limited-slip differential to compensate for the understeer typical of front-wheel-drive cars during fast cornering.
